Major General 2 stars (Res.), Dr. Yom-Tov Samia, has recently published his 2nd book, “Leadership in moments of truth”, based on the authors’ personal background, beginning with his early days in the IDF and continuing with his career in the private sector.
With nearly 3 decades of experience in the army (he was head of the Israel Defense Forces’ Southern Command), Yom-Tov Samia puts together an excellent lesson on how military leadership can be translated to other areas of activity as well. The author explains to its readers, from a personal point of view, the main characteristics a leader should have in order to be successful in guiding and motivating others.
First and foremost, Samia shows us that leadership is a skill that, when applied in earnest will bear fruits in every discipline. The guidelines which Major General (Res.) Yom Tov Samia outlines as being unconditional attached to a leader’s agenda refer to always preserving the self-respect of others, regardless of position and situation – never abuse the position of leader by inducing harm to another person’s sense of self, and being directly responsible and accountable for the well-being of the organization.
Major General 2 stars (Res.) Dr. Yom-Tov Samia: We lack true leaders!
With a foreword written by another top General (retired four star General Wesley Clark), who brilliantly explores the depths of this book, Yom Tov Samia manages to “takes us deep inside many of the most fascinating and, for the Western World, least understood aspect of Israel’s and the IDF’s journey, and into the modern problem of conflict and security operations among a civilian population”.
The book can be purchased on Amazon.
